One of the main advantages of working a full-time job is that many employers provide a suite of benefits to their full-time staff. You may receive benefits such as health and dental insurance, 401K retirement options, stock purchase options, free or discounted meals and the like. On the flip side, part-time employees often receive no benefits. Some jobs, however, allow their part-time employees to earn benefits after a certain amount of time.

You will only work for the employer about half the time you would have worked for the establishment if you had a full-time job. You will have the rest of that time to spend with your family, invest your time into some hobbies or work another job to make ends meet. As a full-time employee, you may have the opportunity to work overtime at a rate of 1.5 times your regular pay. Part-time employees hardly get overtime hours because their shifts are too short. On the other hand, some employers offer their part-time workers an attractive salary because they did not provide them with benefits. This could be good for you if you already have medical coverage, and you're not very interested in stock and retirement plans. You can use the extra money to keep up with your bills and invest in improving your life quality.
